Cosmo Oil Marketing Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Cosmo Energy Holdings Co., Ltd., is pleased to announce the supply of 100% next-generation biodiesel fuel¹ to diesel-powered passenger trains² operated by West Japan Railway Company (hereafter, “JR West”). This marks the first instance in Japan of a diesel-powered regular train service operating on 100% next-generation biodiesel fuel, achieving net zero CO₂ emissions.
To supply next-generation biodiesel fuel, COSMO OIL INTERNATIONAL PTE. LTD., an overseas subsidiary of Cosmo Oil Co., Ltd., has strengthened collaboration with international suppliers and established a cooperative framework to support procurement, quality control, and stable supply.
The Cosmo Energy Group aims to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050 and is working to help realize a carbon-neutral society by transitioning to zero-carbon energy and supplying next-generation energy, among other efforts.
Through the operation of regular train services powered by 100% next-generation biodiesel fuel, the Cosmo Energy Group and JR West are committed to advancing initiatives toward the decarbonization of railway transportation and contributing to the reduction of CO₂ emissions.
