Cosmo Eco Power Co., Ltd. (hereafter, “Cosmo Eco Power”), a subsidiary of Cosmo Energy Holdings Co., Ltd., and Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. (hereafter, “Fuji Electric”) announced that they have entered into a virtual Power Purchase Agreement¹ (PPA; hereafter, “the PPA”).
With the conclusion of the PPA, Fuji Electric’s Matsumoto Plant (Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture), which manufactures power semiconductors², will receive the environmental value corresponding to roughly 10 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year of electricity generated by the Enshu Wind Power Plant (Kakegawa City, Shizuoka Prefecture; installed capacity: 6.33 MW), currently under construction by Cosmo Eco Power. This is expected to result in an annual CO₂ emissions reduction of approximately 4,210 tons (equivalent to the emissions from about 1,700 households).
[Structure of the Virtual PPA]
Under its “Environmental Vision 2050,” Fuji Electric has set a target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions from its production activities by more than 46% by FY2030 compared with FY2019 levels. To achieve this, the company is working to improve the energy efficiency of its equipment and facilities, install solar power generation systems at its production sites, and expand the procurement of renewable energy-derived electricity. Through these initiatives, Fuji Electric aims to increase the share of renewable energy-derived electricity in its total power consumption to 55% by FY2030 (FY2024 actual: 9%). This latest agreement with Cosmo Eco Power is one of the initiatives toward achieving this target.
As a member of the Cosmo Energy Group, Cosmo Eco Power is working to develop and expand the supply of renewable energy, including wind power generation, in order to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050. Going forward, it remains committed to strengthening cooperation with consumers working to decarbonize their operations, thereby contributing to the wider adoption of renewable energy and the growth of local communities.

- A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) is a long-term contract under which the consumer purchases natural energy-derived electricity from a power producer. Meanwhile, a virtual PPA is a contract under which the consumer procures only the environmental value of such electricity.
- A semiconductor device designed to efficiently handle high voltages and large currents in power conversion and control.
