Cosmo Commences Full-scale Commercial Operation of Offshore Wind Power Projects at the Ports of Akita and Noshiro in Akita Prefecture

Cosmo Eco Power Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Cosmo Energy Holdings Co., Ltd., has been working together with Marubeni Corporation, Obayashi Corporation, Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc., The Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc., Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc., The Akita Bank, Ltd., Ohmori Co., Ltd., Sawakigumi Co. Ltd.,Kyowa Oil Co., Ltd., Kato Construction Co., Ltd., Kanpu Co., Ltd., and Sankyo Co., Ltd. through a special purpose company, Akita Offshore Wind Corporation (hereinafter, "AOW"), to implement Japan's first large-scale commercial offshore wind power project at the ports of Akita and Noshiro in Akita Prefecture.

The Akita Port Offshore Wind Farm commenced commercial operation on January 31, 2023, based on the Feed-in Tariff ("FIT") scheme for renewable energy.

The Noshiro Port Offshore Wind Farm, meanwhile, began commercial operation based on the FIT scheme in December 22 of 2022 and is currently operating smoothly. The commencement of operation of the Akita Port Offshore Wind Farm marked the beginning of full-scale commercial operation of AOW's offshore wind farms. Going forward, AOW will operate, maintain, and manage both offshore wind farms for the next 20 years under an operation and maintenance structure based at Noshiro Port.
 

Going forward, the Cosmo Energy Group remains committed to contributing to the realization of net zero carbon emissions by 2050 through various initiatives, including the expansion of its offshore wind power business, under the theme of "expansion of our renewable energy business," which is a key priority for the realization of carbon net zero emissions in 2050.
