Cosmo Oil Marketing Co., Ltd. (hereafter, "the Company"), a subsidiary of Cosmo Energy Holdings Co., Ltd., participated in a ceremony on July 7 to mark the start of domestic produced Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) supply to Tokyo International Airport (hereafter, "Haneda Airport").
Held at the airport, the event celebrated the inaugural supply of domestic SAF, produced by SAFFAIRE SKY ENERGY LLC from used cooking oil. The feedstock was collected in collaboration with the Fry to Fly Project—of which the Cosmo Energy Group is a member—and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
The Company was selected as the first recipient of a subsidy under the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s Domestic SAF Utilization Promotion Project, which aims to strengthen Tokyo’s global competitiveness and promote SAF adoption at Haneda Airport¹. Naoki Takayama, President of the Company, attended the event as representative of the SAF supplier and designated operator.

The Cosmo Energy Group has been working to establish a supply chain for Japan's first domestically produced SAF, with the goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050. In parallel, the Group is also helping to foster broader understanding of and build momentum for SAF across society as a whole through initiatives such as an ongoing pilot program to collect household used cooking oil at service stations for repurposing into SAF feedstock.
Recognizing decarbonization and the realization of a recycling-oriented society as key priorities, the Cosmo Energy Group remains committed to addressing societal challenges and fostering sustainable corporate development. At the same time, the Group will continue to promote the use of SAF in air transportation and contribute to the creation of a sustainable, resource-recycling society.

The SAF supplied to Haneda Airport was commercialized following the receipt of a New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) subsidy² in 2021, aimed at establishing a supply chain model for SAF production from domestically sourced used cooking oil. It is the first domestic SAF to be mass produced in Japan and has obtained ISCC CORSIA and ISCC EU certifications³. These certifications are part of the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) initiative, which recognizes compliance with international standards for sustainable products, and serve as proof of the fuel's environmental value. The fuel is produced by SAFFAIRE SKY ENERGY LLC, a joint venture formed by Cosmo Oil Co., Ltd., JGC HOLDINGS CORPORATION, and REVO International Inc., and has been supplied to airlines via the Cosmo Energy Group since FY2025.
